Although by the close of the 1860s, Denver residents could look with pride at their success establishing a vibrant supply and service center, the decision to route the nation's first transcontinental railroad through Cheyenne, rather than Denver, threatened the prosperity of the young town. A daunting 100 miles away, citizens mobilized to build a railroad to connect Denver to the transcontinental railroad. Spearheaded by visionary leaders including Territorial Governor John Evans, David Moffat, and Walter Cheesman, fundraising began. Within three days, $300,000 had been raised, and citizens were optimistic. Fundraising stalled before enough was raised, forcing these visionary leaders to take control of the debt-ridden railroad. Despite challenges, on June 24, 1870, citizens cheered as the Denver Pacific completed the link to the transcontinental railroad, ushering in a new age of prosperity for Denver.
7. Miramont Castle: This was built in the 1890s in an incredible Victorian-style castle at the foot of Pikes Peak. It has nine styles of architecture on a sprawling, magnificent property. Built by a French Priest, it’s a great opportunity to see incredible architecture and how people lived in Colorado at the turn of the 19th Century. With over 30 rooms, it would be Cinderella’s nightmare to clean. This amazing castle is a now a museum.
Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to Denver, operating its California Zephyr daily in both directions between Chicago and Emeryville, California, across the bay from San Francisco. Amtrak Thruway service operated by private bus companies links the Denver station with Rocky Mountain points. In 2017 a bill was introduced into the state legislature to connect towns and cities along the Front Range with an additional Amtrak line or state-funded alternative.
2. Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun: This sprawling castle in Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, is located at 8,136 feet in elevation- just tall enough to let everyone you mean business. A castle this high up in the mountains is not for the faintest of heart. This would be a great place to throw a Halloween soiree….or play a great game of hide-n-seek.
On June 13-16, 2018, we joined over 9,000 attendees at the biggest multifamily event of the year: The National Apartment Association's Apartmentalize. In the closing years of the 19th century Don Melchor de Concha y Toro discovered that his most treasured wines had been pilfered from the “casillero” (cellar) beneath his family home. To discourage further theft, the enterprising Don spread a rumor that his deepest, darkest cellars were haunted by the devil. Today, the original Concha y Toro family estate, complete with its Devil’s Cellar, is Chile’s leading tourist destination!

Denver also has a number of neighborhoods not reflected in the administrative boundaries. These neighborhoods may reflect the way people in an area identify themselves or they might reflect how others, such as real estate developers, have defined those areas. Well-known non-administrative neighborhoods include the historic and trendy LoDo (short for "Lower Downtown"), part of the city's Union Station neighborhood; Uptown, straddling North Capitol Hill and City Park West; Curtis Park, part of the Five Points neighborhood; Alamo Placita, the northern part of the Speer neighborhood; Park Hill, a successful example of intentional racial integration; and Golden Triangle, in the Civic Center.
Hi, we are a party of 6 and we want to come May 17 for lunch. Four of us are treating two coworkers to lunch as a farewell to one of them who is changing jobs. We have some timing issues. Our two guests of honor have 45 minutes for lunch and can't leave for lunch until 12:30 p.m. Also, another one in this group must leave by 1:00. Therefore, could we make a reservation for 6 people on May 17 at 12:15 p.m. and have 3 of us arrive at 12:15 and put in lunch orders for all 6 of us. I would arrive at 12:35ish with the two guests of honor. My plan is that this would be a way to speed up the service and meet everyone's time constraints.

According to the 2010 census, the City and County of Denver contained 600,158 people and 285,797 households. The population density was 3,698 inhabitants per square mile (1,428/km²) including the airport. There were 285,797 housing units at an average density of 1,751 per square mile (676/km²). However, the average density throughout most Denver neighborhoods tends to be higher. Without the 80249 zip code (47.3 sq mi, 8,407 residents) near the airport, the average density increases to around 5,470 per square mile. Denver, Colorado, is at the top of the list of 2017 Best Places to Live, according to U.S. News & World Report, landing a place in the top two in terms of affordability and quality of lifestyle.
Making wines in volume and creating wines with personality might seem contradictory. But winemaker Marcelo Papa, who has overseen Casillero del Diablo since 1998, has managed this feat. In 2005, Marcelo Papa was named “Winemaker of the Year” by the Chilean Wine Guide for his ability to “create exceptional wines that are widely available in the marketplace, yet achieve extraordinary levels of quality in spite of high production levels.” Thanks to Marcelo Papa’s extraordinary winemaking talent, and the support and leadership of the Concha y Toro company, today Casillero del Diablo is a worldwide standard-bearer for premium quality Chilean wines – and the Legend of the Devil’s Cellar lives on!
